From a freelancer responding to a LinkedIn message to becoming a full-time designer at Ink. Read Lucía Capdepón's story about her way of learning, designing and 3D printing mishaps along the way.
Turning sketches into reality: My day-to-day
I never planned on working at Ink. It all started when Pablo Muniz, Hardware Design Engineer of Ink Automation (the hardware division of Ink Innovation), reached out to me through LinkedIn. I was finishing an internship, and my contract was ending, so the timing was perfect. After a meeting with the team, I was in. The conditions they offered were like a dream, especially for Alicante. So, I took the leap.
At Ink, Pablo and I are the dream team of design. We start with sketches, plan the design and figure out the electronic components. Then, it's all about 3D modelling and prototyping. For smaller items, we use 3D printers. For bigger projects, we draft blueprints and send them out for manufacturing. It’s a mix of creativity and tech that keeps me on my toes.
Why this career? I just followed my gut
Choosing this career was more about avoiding what I didn’t like. My teacher suggested it because I was good at drawing and technical drawing. This field combined both, and I thought, why not? Now, I couldn’t be happier with my choice.
“This is my first real job, but when I was looking for internships, there wasn't much design work available. Most were technical office jobs without creativity. Here, we do the entire design process, which is great.”

What’s the best part of my job? Being part of every stage of the development process. Plus, working with colleagues from all over the world is a blast. I enjoy practising English and interacting with friendly, diverse people. Great conditions, flexible schedules and the freedom we have here are just the icing on the cake.
Studying, working and dreaming in Alicante
Outside of work, I’m diving into a master’s degree in UX/UI. My days are packed with work, and my evenings are filled with classes and assignments. Looking ahead, I see myself at Ink for a long time. I am saving up to move to my own house and drive my own car. Those are my goals for now.
Oops, we did it again!
One thing that gets me out of bed every morning is knowing I’ll be comfortable at work. Here, I feel valued every single day. It’s easy to come to work when you know you’re appreciated.
We’ve had our fair share of funny moments at Ink. Just the other day, we had a mix-up with the 3D printer. What was supposed to be a small component turned into a gigantic, cartoonish version. We all had a good laugh, reminding us that even when things go wrong, we’re in it together and can find humour in the hiccups.
Ink: more than just a job
Ink is more than just a company. The opportunities for my professional growth are amazing because we handle every aspect of the design process. There’s always something new to learn.
So, that’s my story.
