Ink Innovation and LPort supported Riyadh Airport for a 2024 trial project, enhancing passenger processing efficiency.

A new era of convenience at Riyadh Airports

Riyadh Airports, one of the busiest aviation hubs in the region, set out to modernise its passenger check-in process. Faced with increasing passenger volumes and the need to improve efficiency, the airport sought an innovative solution to reduce queues, speed up processing, and enhance the overall travel experience.

The challenge: Managing growing passenger demand

As air travel rebounds and passenger numbers rise, traditional check-in methods were no longer sufficient. Long queues at counters and kiosks led to congestion, creating frustration for travellers and operational challenges for airport staff. Riyadh Airport needed a seamless, scalable, and efficient solution that would empower passengers while optimising operations.

The solution: A trial project with Ink Touch

In 2024, Ink Innovation, along with Saudi-based partner LPort, will support Riyadh Airport's initiative to launch a trial project aimed at enhancing passenger processing efficiency. The initiative tested how mobile solutions could improve operational workflows and reduce congestion.

Through this collaboration, Ink Innovation and LPort introduced a mobile check-in solution that enabled agents to process passengers from various locations within the airport. This reduced dependency on fixed counters, minimised waiting times, and improved overall passenger flow.

Key benefits of the mobile check-in solution:

  • Faster processing: Customer agents can check in passengers from anywhere within the airport, reducing congestion at counters.
  • Improved passenger flow: Streamlined check-in operations lead to better terminal space management.
  • Enhanced user experience: A simple, intuitive interface makes the process effortless for travellers.
  • Operational efficiency: Ground handling teams can focus on assisting passengers who need additional support.

The impact: A transformed passenger journey

The introduction of mobile check-in has led to a reduction in wait times and improved overall efficiency at the Riyadh Airport. Passengers now experience a smoother journey, from check-in to boarding, with greater flexibility and control over their travel process.

This collaboration marks a step forward in Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation in aviation, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 strategy.
