In a bold projection for the near future, the traditional airport routine — with its queues for check-in four hours before departure — will no longer serve our fast-paced world. This outdated model must be replaced with a more dynamic approach.
At the heart of this transformation, Ink’s solutions are reimagining airport passenger processing operations.
“Our focus extends beyond the mere act of travelling; it’s about connecting the dots of the journey before, during, and after the flight. With Ink, airports can distinguish themselves in a competitive landscape, offering passengers a journey that's not just about reaching their destination, but about the connected experience that gets them there,” Blaine Powell, Chief Sales Officer, Ink Innovation.
“Running operations, airports today may not only improve passenger experience but generate new revenue sources by using flexible technology transformed into a cohesive retailing platform”.
Ink experience with Passenger Terminal EXPO
Passenger Terminal EXPO is one of the international airport exhibitions, attracting over 7000 attendees from more than 100 countries every year. They have gathered industry experts since 1998 to provide a platform for leaders to showcase the latest innovations and share their expertise through a diverse range of panel discussions.
For the first time, Ink joined the PTE show in Paris in 2006, choosing this platform as part of the go-to-market strategy for the Ink DCS launch. Later, in 2014, we introduced Ink Touch, the mobile application for passenger handling operations. In 2019, in London, we showcased Ink Load Control and the first self-service devices. Right after the pandemic, Ink came back to the PTE venue with the full range of self-service units, including an upgraded version of a QuickTag, bag drop, security gates, and Ink Totem for a lounge or boarding gate.
“From all the designs and products our team worked on, developing our first self-service bag drop was a significant step, offering a retrofittable solution that provides flexibility for airlines and airports. Retrofitting is crucial as it saves time and money, allowing new products to be integrated with existing spaces without major modifications,” recalled Yurik Schwab, Head of Hardware Systems at Ink.
Explore innovations for modern retailing with Ink at PTE
At the Passenger Terminal Expo 2024, we will demonstrate how our ecosystem helps airports and airlines differentiate, unlock revenue, and provide an unrivalled experience by connecting the passenger journey before, during, and after travel.
Ink will showcase the compact and flexible self-service units, which use biometrics to enable a walking-pace journey throughout the airport. A journey which goes beyond operational processes to create modern retailing opportunities by expanding passenger interactions across multiple touchpoints. Our team will share the vision of Connected Journeys, demonstrating how this vital yet non-intrusive platform delivers a circular, more unified experience for tomorrow’s traveller.
The “Connected Journeys” presentation is scheduled to start on April 16 at 11 am.
