Ink Innovation becomes core passenger handling technology partner at Dala Airport

Dala Airport in Sweden has signed a direct partnership with Ink Innovation to provide the system used for passenger check-in, boarding and baggage handling at the airport. Ink’s cloud-based Departure Control System (Ink DCS) has been in use at Dala Airport since 2016 via local ground handling company Dala Flyget and will now be supplied under a direct agreement between the airport and Ink.

Airport managers say the change is intended to give them more flexibility over how services develop in the coming years. The system used at check-in desks and boarding gates will remain in place, while commercial terms, support and future enhancements will now be handled directly between Dala Airport and Ink Innovation.

“We have worked with Ink for many years and have always received excellent, timely support. We look forward to continuing that same standard of excellence through the new partnership between Ink and Dala Airport,” said Lucy Goodfellow, Training Coordinator, Dala Airport.

Dala Airport, also known as Borlänge Airport, serves the Dalarna region in central Sweden, providing links for business travel, tourism, and local events. The airport handled over 15300 passengers in 2024, with traffic including private and leisure charter flights to domestic and international destinations.

Ink’s platform is delivered from the cloud and is used by agents for tasks such as passenger check-in, document checks, seat assignment, baggage acceptance and boarding. The setup is designed to enable staff to be trained quickly and work across different airlines with consistent procedures.

Both sides are also looking at whether additional tools from the Ink platform, such as mobile devices for agents, could be introduced at Dala Airport if there is demand from passengers and airlines.
