Breaking technical dependencies
It is historically difficult for airlines to build a business case to combine systems from different vendors because most remain reliant on their PSS provider's Departure Control System. Breaking this dependency requires a shift in strategy to "mix and match" modules.

Ecosystem orchestration
The shift requires coordinating a vast number of vendors and cross-company processes: "...when you actually look at the level of orchestration all the way from top to bottom [refers to the Riyadh Air operations rollout], the number of vendors that need to work with each other, the number of processes that span multiple companies.., it's quite intense on everyone."

Redefining "Delivery"
"I think it would be a mistake to interpret delivery as something that is just giving a boarding pass and a bag tag. I think there's a lot more to it... We see IROPS as a multi-layer problem. So it's the order, the flight itself, the airport, and your whole network."

Integrating third-party content
As airlines expand into non-air revenue (e.g., hotels, rail, experiences), they face the challenge of integrating with diverse service providers who may not use the same technical standards or "languages" as the airline industry, "... and then in order to keep a handle on what is happening with all of those moving parts, that's where delivery comes in."
