New boarding pass verification capability strengthens passenger processing through automated validation and integration with Ink CUPPS.

Ink Innovation, together with its exclusive partner in Suriname, Wintel N.V., has successfully deployed Ink Security at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport (JAPIA). The new capability introduces automated boarding pass verification, helping airlines and airport operators strengthen security, reduce manual checks, and improve passenger processing.

Implemented by Wintel, the Ink Security module became operational on 5 October 2026 for all certified airlines operating on Ink CUPPS at JAPIA.

Ink Security: smarter boarding pass verification

Boarding pass verification is an essential part of airport security. Ensuring that each boarding pass corresponds to the correct passenger helps prevent misuse and supports reliable passenger processing.

Ink Security introduces an automated approach to this process.

The solution scans printed boarding passes, validates their barcodes, and automatically matches them against the corresponding passenger records within the Ink platform.

By connecting boarding pass verification directly with passenger data, Ink Security helps airport teams identify discrepancies, minimise manual intervention, and maintain a consistent verification process across participating airlines.

What Ink Security brings to airport operations

The deployment introduces several operational benefits for JAPIA and airlines using Ink CUPPS:

Stronger security and fraud prevention

Automatic barcode validation and passenger data matching help prevent boarding pass swapping and misuse, adding another layer of security to passenger processing.

Faster passenger processing

Automated verification reduces the need for manual checks, helping airport staff process passengers more efficiently and supporting smoother passenger flow.

Consistent verification across airlines

All certified airlines operating on Ink CUPPS at JAPIA can use the same secure verification method, supporting greater operational consistency across the airport.

Seamless integration with the Ink ecosystem

Ink Security integrates with Ink CUPPS and Ink DCS, providing a connected approach to passenger processing while supporting future capabilities such as e-gates.

Real-time operational visibility

Airport Management gains access to immediate reporting on scans, verification results, and detected discrepancies, supporting operational oversight and compliance.

Supporting JAPIA's digital transformation

The introduction of Ink Security builds on the ongoing collaboration between Ink Innovation and Wintel to modernise airport operations in Suriname.

As Ink Innovation's exclusive local partner, Wintel plays a key role in implementing and supporting Ink technology at JAPIA, helping translate digital capabilities into practical improvements for airlines, airport operators, and passengers.

With Ink Security now operational, JAPIA takes another step towards a more connected passenger processing environment, where security, efficiency, and operational visibility work together.

The deployment also establishes a foundation for further digitalisation, including the potential introduction of automated passenger processing technologies such as e-gates.
